AI is making fast and furious changes in the work world, and some of my clients have expressed a lot of concern about what the future will look like and how they can choose a career that is, “AI-proof.” I don’t believe there is such a thing, if you define “AI-proof” as a career that will not be affected, but many career fields are not likely to be eliminated or significantly reduced.
According to this recent article on AOL.com by Kaitlyn Mcinnis, which references a study by Eskimoz (an SEO company), these fields include: the Skilled Trades, Healthcare 🏥, Childcare Workers, Sales, and sensitive fields, like Social Work and Legal work.
I’ve also heard from multiple sources that people in Tech-related jobs like Software Engineer and Data Scientist 🖥️ should focus on leveraging AI tools to enhance productivity, developing specialized skills—like Mathematics and working with large datasets—and growing essential soft skills to stay competitive.
It’s easy to go down a scary rabbit hole when thinking about risks, but I don’t recommend solely making your career (or life) decisions based on worries or fears. I have done that before and regretted it! I DO think that it’s wise to do your due diligence by researching job market trends for all top career options.
