In our first meeting, I ask questions and get to know more about you. Then, depending on what you want to accomplish in our work together, we will discuss and set goals, as well as decide on a career counseling package that fits your needs. I strongly recommend people choose to meet four to six times, initially, so that our work can build towards success. Others may need or want support for a longer period of time. The goals we set then determine our next steps. If you are at the beginning of a career transition and seeking greater focus and clarity, I will suggest one or more time-tested career/self assessments to provide information about good-fit career choices that can then be explored and discussed. Or if you are more clear about what type of career you desire, but are feeling stuck in your current situation or wanting help designing and/or creating a sustainable new career path, then the next steps will follow accordingly. In whatever path we take, I practice a client-centered approach and allow your expertise to come out.

Each session, we will spend time talking and my questions will help you clarify your thoughts, feelings, and needs, and continue to define and refine your career purpose and vision. In addition, we will define powerful action steps to complete prior to the next session, as well as celebrate the steps just completed. As appropriate, I will share proven career resources that may be of help in your process, including coaching exercises, books and videos, self and career-exploration tools, online resources, job market and resume information, and more. We will periodically revisit the goals we set in our first meeting, to assure we stay on track. In our final session, especially, we will review our work together, celebrate accomplishments, and recognize challenges. A big part of what I love as a counselor is to see you experience breakthroughs and achieve your goals!
